the end is near… football is here!

It’s been a while, and we apologize for that. But we’ve been busy planning our THIRD annual PowderPuff Football tournament!

It will be Friday, April 23, beginning at 10:30am, at Forest Field on SW 20th Ave.

This year, we are implementing a new idea: it will take more than just the team to win. Here is the breakdown:

Here are the rules:

1) There are rules for 4-on-4, but we will be playing 7-on-7
2) These rules will be enforced

VERBAL ABUSE (to refs, coaches, whoever)
1st offense – Suspended for 1 game/rest of game
2nd offense – No more games for you

PROFANITY (directed at anyone or anything: players, coaches, refs, the grass, the trees, the sun)
YOU WILL NOT PLAY ANY MORE GAMES THE REST OF THE DAY AND COULD BE ASKED TO LEAVE

Gameplay rules:
1) No tucking the ball (considered flag guarding)
- Proper way to hold the ball is with 2 hands and the ball out in front of you. Any arms or hands near the waistline will be called for flag guarding

2) Contact on the line will be strictly enforced. Watch the contact on the line. It will be called very often if it happens

3) Extra point is either 1 or 2. From the 3 yd line and the 10 yd line respectively.

Field Dimensions
40×40 yard field with 10 yard endzones
First down line at 20 yard line
- Ball starts at OWN 10 at the start of each half.
- 4 downs to score/reach 1st down mark at midfield
- Change of possession due to turnover takes place at where the ball is turned over

Timing Rules
2 pool games – 25 minutes no stoppage
Before Final 4 – 10 minutes to half, no stoppage
2nd half – 10 minutes with last 30 seconds of college rules
Final 4 – 10 minutes each half with 30 seconds college rules
Halftimes will be 2-3 minutes long, or if teams are ready to play before full time is over

Tiebreakers after pool play
7 minutes continuous clock
3-on-3 challenge
Flip coin/rock-paper-scissors to see who gets ball first
Ball is spotted on 20 yard line, offense has 3 plays to score – 15 second play clock when ball is spotted
Offense score – 1 pt, Defense stop – 1 pt
